I encourage open communication about anything you are experiencing during your massage session in regards to pain, adjustment of pressure, etc. Quietness over casual conversation is encouraged. This allows you to be more present during the session, therefore increasing relaxation and awareness of how your body is responding to the treatment. It allows myself, the therapist to have greater focus and give you the best treatment possible.
Absolutely. A cold is most contagious 3 days before symptoms appear and 5 days throughout symptoms being present. Also, please reschedule if you have an active infection or are currently on antibiotics. We work with clients with compromised immune symptoms and maintaining a clean environment is important to prevent spreading illness to another client or the therapist.
You should undress to your level of comfort. Some people prefer to leave their undergarments on while others prefer to be completely undressed. As per NYS law, only the area currently being worked on may be uncovered. If working the low back, hips and glutes, it is preferred for the undergarments to be removed. This allows greater access to the muscles and their attachment sites. It's your choice how you want your therapist to work! Your comfort and feeling of security is of the upmost importance during your massage session. Being fully clothed during your massage session is also an option. Please address any draping concerns with your therapist before your session.
